Medical Marijuana Goes to the Supreme Court

Medical marijuana continues to make news as the U.S. Supreme Court hears the case, US v. Oakland Cannabis Buyer’ Cooperative. Last month, Santa Clara University Law Professor, Gerald Uelmen argued before the Supreme Court that exceptions should be made for seriously ill patients and that the government itself has made exceptions in the past. Gerald Uelmen will be speaking at an upcoming forum sponsored by the Lindesmith Center – Drug Policy Foundation.

Tod H. Mikuriya, M.D.
Dr. Tod H. Mikuriya is a recognized authority on the medicinal uses of marijuana. He is a member of the City of Oakland Medical Marijuana Work Group, the International Cannabinoid Research Society, and the Medical Marijuana Task Force of the California Society for Addiction Medicine. He is a former director of non-classified marijuana research for the National Institute of Mental Health

Valerie Corral
Valerie Corral is the founder and chair of WoMen’s Alliance for Medical Marijuana (WAMM), a non-profit organization which serves over 200 seriously ill patients. Corral, an epileptic due to brain trauma, created WAMM in response to a 1993 legal victory based on defense of medical necessity.

Alan Bock
Alan Bock recently penned the forthcoming book, Waiting to Inhale: The Politics of Medical Marijuana. Bock is a senior editorial writer and essayist for the Orange County Register and a weekly columnist for WorldNetDaily.com and Antiwar.com.
