The Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act is a comprehensive criminal justice reform bill that would end criminal penalties for marijuana by removing (“descheduling”) it from the Controlled Substances Act (“CSA”). It also includes provisions to begin repairing the harms caused by marijuana criminalization.
First introduced in 2019, the MORE Act was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives in December 2020 and April 2022, making it the only bill that the House has approved to deschedule marijuana.
The MORE Act would end decades of discriminatory marijuana criminalization, begin to repair past harms, and prioritize equity and justice in federal marijuana law and policy.
